Phantom

The Phantom designs one cursed shape, hides it where a real object would sit, and fools the Workers until time runs out. Only one player is the Phantom each round.

Designing your cursed shape

Press Tab to open the Shape Designer. You build your shape before you place it. Once you place it, the design is locked.

  • Body: Cube, Blocky Orb or Wedge. Only the Cube can be carved with CHISEL and ADD.
  • Face: Cute, Blank, Angry or Shocked. The face must look into open air. A button after the four faces moves it.
  • Paint: paint each side. Use the arrows to switch sides. On a Wedge, paint the ramp as FRONT.
  • Pick from world: copies a color from any surface. Use it to match the room.
  • Cloner: turns a real prop into your shape. It only works in a round, and the host can switch it off.

Starter kit

In your first 2 Phantom rounds, the designer opens with 3 ready-made disguises for the current map. You can pick COPY THAT PROP or DESIGN MY OWN. After that, a DISGUISES button in the designer header brings the picker back. Workers never see what you choose.

Share codes

You can turn a shape into a short code that starts with "PS1-". Paste a code into the designer to load that shape. The results screen shows a Shape Card with a picture of your shape, a map of the spot it hid, and its share code.

Placing and hiding

Put your shape where a real object would sit. Its face must look into open air. You cannot place it inside a player or where a door swings.

The shape also has to be fair. Enough of it must be visible, and some Worker eyes must be able to see part of it. You cannot hide it in a spot nobody could ever look at.

  • Enter confirms the spot.
  • R rotates the shape.
  • X cancels.
  • Arrow keys nudge it.
  • You fly. Space goes up and Left Ctrl goes down. Workers cannot see you outside a Hunt.

If hiding time runs out before you place, you get a final call of 10 seconds. After that, the game places the shape for you. The Workers never win by default.

Your tricks

Your tool bar holds 7 tools: 5 always on, plus 2 you pick at the Staff Lounge lockers. All tools are free. See All Tools for every number.

Always on the bar (5)

  • Move Shape: drag your shape to a new spot, every 35 seconds. It screeches, so Workers hear it.
  • Shape Cloak: hide your shape for a short time, once a round.
  • Echo Mimic: replay a Worker's voice from a spot on the map.
  • Phantom Static: make a Worker's voice squeaky.
  • Ghost Curse: silence a Worker's voice and chat.

Pick 2 from these 5

The default picks are Ghost Key and Possession.

Your own microphone stays off until your Hunt starts. Before that, you speak through Echo Mimic.

Shape Cloak and its fair tells

Shape Cloak makes your shape invisible for a short time. It lasts 15 percent of the search, at most 20 seconds, and you can use it once a round. It cannot start with 45 seconds or less left in the search. The hotbar calls it "Cloak".

It is never a free hiding trick. These tells stay on:

  • The shape still collides. A Worker can bump into it.
  • It shimmers with pixels, but only when a Worker is up close.
  • The Scanner still finds it.
  • In the last 5 seconds of the search, cyan and violet sparks float off the shape. Paint, glow and graphics settings cannot hide them.

The Cloak ends early if you start a Hunt, move the shape or the round ends. After a Cloak or a Hunt, the shape only comes back when no Worker is looking at its spot.

How the Phantom wins

  • The search time runs out.
  • Every Worker is caught.
  • The last Worker leaves during the search.

If you leave the game after the search has started, the Workers win.

Starting a Hunt

Press H to start a Hunt, when a Hunt window is open. You appear, the lights change and you chase the Workers. Read The Hunt for the timing, hearts and the stone rule.
